How To Behave During A First Interview
|
 |
If you don't have a CV, or you're considering
a revamp then we suggest you use the following format:
At the top of the CV, write a summary paragraph (approx. 80
words) explaining who you are, what you are and outline your
primary skills and experience.
- Personal Information - (name, address, all
telephone numbers (work, mobile and home) marital status
- Education. Refrain from mentioning diplomas,
degrees or other qualifications for which you are only partly
(or not at all) qualified. More and more companies wish
to see proof of qualifications. Careers have been ruined
because of mentioning a non-existent qualification. In some
countries misrepresentation is a criminal offence.
- Work related Courses - mention dates and
length of course
- Work Experience or Previous employment -
Always list your work experience in descending order with
current employer first.
- Additional Information - Languages, specific
knowledge and/or experience, memberships of professional
and other organisations, all work related
- Interests - hobbies everything not work
related
- Do not produce CVs longer than 5 pages but
certainly not less than 2½ A4 pages.
- Describe your duties and responsibilities
clearly and concisely.
- Include major achievements and other things
that are clearly attributable to you.
Explain any non-working periods.
- Use one single font/typeface.
- Do not bind your CV/resume (it is very difficult
to make copies of a tightly bound or gift-wrapped CV).
- Do not use coloured typefaces as they can
be difficult to print, or may not show well in black and
white.
- Do not include remuneration details or names
of referees.
- Do not forget that our clients may be interested
in you for your current skills and experience and not for
the new direction in which you have decided to go.
- Check your CV/resume thoroughly for spelling
and/or typing mistakes.
- Ask somebody to proof read your CV/resume.
- Make sure that you can back-up anything
that you state in your CV/resume.
